well I am glad that SOMEone is telling us what's going on (since our CR's either dont want to or just 'cant').
not too much into pvp so......
xth...thanks for the update...its good to know where they are with that (it was all we asked for...an update and we FINALLY got one)...so lindsey thanks.
robert...hope you brought a large pot or something to bail with...you might need it. and welcome to the ship!
updates....yeah it seemed toooo goood to be true that we would get as many as they had said they were going to do, but with the current staff I think that the one they did was probably epic. now with the staff doubled they might get another one out this year.
Would be nice to see some new content for halloween and wintersday (again)....at least some new jokes for the Mad King, PLEASE!!!!
looks like from the tone of that post that gw is going to be around for at least the next year or so on its own.....so thats good news.
keep us posted Lindsey (my favorite CR! )

Probably the best news/info coming out of anet in years. Everything shows a real understanding of issues and where the community generally stands, with intelligent ideas on what can be offered with their time.
The only part that is suspect is the notion that balancing problem templates in GvG is useless until they figure out a better tie-breaker; both are needed, and the former is much easier in the meantime.

little confused on:
Gaining points in the Commander title will no longer be possible. You’ll still be able to display it, and it will count in the Hall of Monuments and towards the Kind of a Big Deal title track.
Does this mean that if i achieve rank 1 in this title it will be considered max and able to put in my HoM or will it mean if i had maxed it then it counts towards KOABD

The amount of stuff nerfed into the ground due to VoD and then left there afterwards is absurd. And from the nerfs right up until VoD's removal, GvG only got worse once splinterdervs weren't enough to do the job anymore.

I can honestly say I have no clue what Sealed Deck is.
*Reads past the first page to see if it gets explained in the thread already*

Sealed deck pvp sounds like it will be a welcome addition, though ultimately it depends on if the player base embraces it, seems like a good move though...
XTH... How can it be so flawed? Bury it already
Festival Updates are rolled out manually? WTF? Four years of largely the same stuff and you don't just 'flip a switch' to turn it on and off? That's just poor planning, I'm really surprised by this.
Anyway, thanks for the update, welcome to the evil Robot, and good luck with it all.

Can't wait to see how the buildmaking for the team in sealed deck will work. It's gotta be some complicated UI technology to have a skill pool assigned to a whole team and having every team member make their character builds from that pool. Also I can imagine the need for multiple relogs of team members to change their characters (primary professions)
When I've imagined Sealed Deck working in game I always thought of a tournament structure like the ATS, where a team receives their random skill pool for the entire tournament. It really feels like a tournament format.
But here it clearly looks like a streamlined pug-friendly format, something more like TA, I can't really imagine how is this going to work in a non-tournament playfield...
15-20 minutes of buildmaking, then entering the arenas, losing one battle and getting back to the outpost... then new deck to enter again?
Or what if a person leaves team?
Or do even every team get a different skill pool? Or it's the same for every team, and only changing for new teams every 15 minutes or every hour or daily?
I'd also love to hear more details about the format, will it be 4v4 or maybe 5v5? How important will be shrine capping? Similar to Costume Brawl?
Overall I'm totally pumped for this new gametype, hope it will be done well and free of bugs or ways to abuse the system.

Any kind of update, content in general...ie: new things, I think are worth it. I don't PvP much but the new format with sealed deck (now that I know what that is, lol) sounds fun.
As far as transparency, I think that's all good as well. Some info is better than none even if we don't like it. Like most of the peeps here, I'm interested to see how this all pans out.

Frick... less updates!? *scream heard from every corner of existence*
Can't you get free help or something else in there!? There are many people who would give you time for no pay to get this rolling. GW could be "perfect" then GW2 will come out, what a sham that could be.

ta will be missed. it isn't innately broken like hb is. it mostly turned to crap for 2 reasons, broken skills and ra syncing/easy ra glad pts. broken skills should be fixed regardless, even if the broken qualities are amplified in ta at a greater scale than in other pvp formats. syncing was stated to be removed with this update and would have helped ta a little bit if it wouldn't have been removed.
i am looking forward to sealed deck. however, pugs will be chaotic imo because there will be too many people trying to take control for build setups.

Wow. So, nothing for PvE players for the rest of this year (or ever?), XTH probably gone (along with the interest I had in following PvP), only a token few extra points for the months missed since it went down, and even fewer updates. I wonder if they'll abandon GW2 like they have GW1 when they decide to do GW3.
I had hoped (stupid, I know) they might come up with some way to have personal stores or a limited broker type deal like Aion has, but I guess that is far beyond their abilities. I don't have the time to spend hours spamming trying to sell one item, in fact it is stupid as you can get several times anything you could ever sell something for just by killing stuff. Which gets pretty boring fairly quickly. Which I guess sums up my feelings toward the entire game. I was just expecting too much, clearly. Maybe I'm just burned out on GW, I'm certainly not having as much fun playing it as I was.

Not bad but it's about time to solve all the shits created since August 2008 : all thoses overbuffed elites and non elites created the worst meta ever.
This monthly show how pathetic is the GvG now, i.e rawr versus sup match which is a great example. I think the first step in the good direction is simply to stop buffing skills and make only nerfs for the 3 or 4 next skill updates.

Thanks for the news, Linsey.
Lots of good things mentioned of what is in the pipeline, some not so good.
I am surprised such a pro shop (like ANet) has so many problems (or even the lack of insight) with getting fundemental development lifecycle processes established (and none was in place?!), i.e. automation, sustainability, complexity, feedback, communication, etc.
Better late than never I guess, so good, heh.
And how is it possible that the XTH bug is such a big problem and that you are not even sure if you fixed it? This boggles me. Sounds more like it is being prepared to be closed down.
As a whole... lots of text, now it's down to actually delivering, although nothing was really promised to be delivered, as evident by the last bit "disclaimer:
Quote:
So, in return for this openness, we expect you, our community, to be understanding when projects that we have discussed may be canceled or changed, or a project or build is delayed. We want you to have ambitious expectations for us, but to understand that there are always limitations. Everyone has to deal with finite resources, competing priorities, and unexpected complications, and we’re no different. By embracing this reality, we can work together to bridge the gap between development and community for the betterment of the game.
|
I understand why it is necessary though. Things happen (most notably - time, resources and complexity) during development cycles, especially if it is unforeseen.
Oh and welcome to the new guy - have fun, work hard and enjoy!
Thanks again and best of luck.
